The fifth and final episode of Beyond Us, a mini-series made in association with Essentia Foundation, which explores four concepts that define the modern world: knowledge, competition, language and growth. In each of the previous episodes, series hosts Fred Matser and Bernardo Kastrup were joined by a leading thinker with a unique take on one of these fascinating topics. In this bonus episode our hosts reflect on the series as a whole, discuss the views of their guests, and see if they have come to any new conclusions of their own. In association with Essentia Foundation.
Bernardo Kastrup is a Dutch computer scientist, philosopher, and one of the most prominent defenders of “metaphysical idealism” – the notion that reality is essentially mental – in the academic world today. Bernardo has worked as a scientist in leading laboratories across the world including CERN and the Philips Research Laboratories, and he is a regular contributor to Scientific American.
Fred Matser is the founder & chairman of Fred Foundation and a leading Dutch humanitarian. He has been active in social and ecological transformation and is the founder and co-founder of a wide range of charitable foundations that span the fields of health, environment, nature conservation, peace and global transformation. The principles underlying these foundations are based on inspiring co-creativity, self-sufficiency, empowerment, inspiration and harmony.
